 I
am Shelly Starks from Tampa Bay, Florida, and I write and sing Country,
Christian & Pop music. I am thrilled you are visiting my site! I began
singing and performing at the age of eleven and have had many years of
experience in live performance. My passion is music and I pour a lot of
energy into making it all I can!
My song writing actually began with poetry writing around the age of
fifteen. As my love for music joined my love for poetry, I began writing
melodies and lyrics. I feel music is a channel through which you can touch
people and influence them either positively or negatively. As you can hear
in my lyrics, my desire is to influence in a positive way. It’s extremely
rewarding to hear feedback that your music has touched someone.
I am pleased to tell you I am very involved with my family,
they are my priority. I feel my music is only enhanced by my experiences
with them, as it helps me maintain a very tangible but soulful feeling to
my songs. Music is meant to be felt not just heard! Which is what I
attempt to capture in every song I write and perform.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of working with very talented
musicians through venues such as my church, various competitions, weddings
and occasional community performances. These experiences have helped me to
learn and absorb so much about how to live through my music and give
“life” to it. And my technical style and composition have come from my
personal growth as a performer. There is something to be said for
longevity in any field you desire to pursue!
Dreams can become reality, but only when you believe they can be YOUR
reality! I encourage you to pursue the things that make you truly happy.
