The seed to Kriztina Åhs & Countryfied was planted when Kriztina wanted to see if anyone was interested in her music. She found an ad in the local newspaper in which the recording studio Mangseth Music Maker in Hudiksvall offered its services. Kriztina chose to cut her song "Singing my blues away", and sent it to the internet radio station Folkradion, where it went strait into the station's listeners chart at seventh place. Encouraged by this Kriztina decided to cut four more of her songs and make a mini cd. Then she started to look for musicians to form a band. The first one responded to an ad on the internet, and amazingly enough that guy lived in the same village as Kriztina (Gnarp) and he played guitar. His name was Niclas Vallin, and he'd before played with a drummer in a blues band, Lars, who joined Niclas and Kriztina. The search for a bass player ended when Kriztina saw some lines at an internet music community where Bengt wrote he was looking for some people to work with. After a while Niclas had to move to the south of Sweden to work and he recommended Kriztina to ask the guitarist Fredrik to replace him, and he did. The name Kriztina Åhs & Countryfied was suggested by Kriztina after she had a nostalgic night of playing some of her LPs, and one of them was Mel McDaniel's I'm Countryfied. The bands first show took place in august 2007 at an old chappell in Kriztina's home town Gnarp, Sweden. Thereafter that event, they've done shows at some major Country Music festivals in Sweden like Duved, Lingbo and Vemdalen. And they've had the privilege of beeing a backing band for The Great rockabilly and country music singers Carl Mann, Rayburn Anthony and Rip Masters. In september 2008, Kriztina Åhs & Countryfied had the honour of beeing one of three nominees in The Swedish Country Music Championships. |
