Jennifer Cross releases new single Los Angeles, CA – Jennifer Cross has announced the first single from her spirited debut album “Long Overdue.” “Sad Eyed Angel” is full of the sass and sexiness that make Jennifer Cross the rising star that she is. Full of grit and boasting a dash of grit, the blues-tinged pop rock unleashed on “Sad Eyed Angel” is full of fire and melody. Cross packs the song with plenty of heart and demonstrates striking vocal capabilities as her voice soars and swoops through the feisty energy of “Sad Eyed Angel.” The song is a lament of love that never seems to work, Cross says, weeping for relationships that end with both parties walking away said when all is said and done. It exemplifies the hurt-too-much defense mechanisms some take refuge in after one sting too many at the hands of the love. “It’s kind of like the ‘why bother’ attitude from a person who has never quite had the love thing work out,” Cross says. She tapped it as her first single because “the song is catchy, in your face, with no beating around the bush.” And while not all of the songs on the album take this tack, they all resonate with Cross’ passion and fiery spirit. Her vocals can be soft and plaintive or forceful and burning with heat. The melodies are full-bodied with hooky percussion and bass rhythms and gleaming guitar work. And, as with all of her songs, “Sad Eyed Angel” boasts lyrics that speak right to the heart of the listener. Much of the performing on “Long Overdue” is done by Cross. “I sing all the vocals and background vocals, play most of the guitar work on the album and also play drums on a couple of the tunes. I write my own material, too, although I did do just a few covers on the album.” (She also notes that she is a leftie guitarist.) Cross is currently working with A&R Select, the premier A&R firm based out of Los Angeles, CA.
